Meet Phillip LeMessurier - 2025 LET Scholar

Phil LeMessurier’s journey with wine began in 1999 as a rookie cellar hand in McLaren Vale, South Australia. However, his true love affair with winemaking ignited in Oregon’s Dundee Hills, where he completed a vintage with Domaine Drouhin.

After traveling the world, Phil returned to McLaren Vale for a two-year stint at Wirra Wirra before enrolling at the University of Adelaide. He graduated in 2005 with a degree in Oenology.

Phil then moved to the renowned Hunter Valley, working with esteemed wineries including Tempus Two, Brokenwood Wines, Tyrells Wines and Thomas Wines. His curiosity and passion for diverse winemaking techniques led him overseas, completing vintages at Vineyard 29 in Napa Valley, Paul Jaboulet in the Rhône Valley, and David Duband in Burgundy.

A regular on the Australian wine judging circuit, Phil is deeply embedded in the country's wine community.

In 2014, he founded Corduroy Wines, producing small-batch wines from the Adelaide Hills and Clare Valley. Through Corduroy, Phil expresses his craft with balance, intention, and a deep respect for place. The brand has grown into a boutique, respected label, distributed across Australia and beloved by many.
